About Tuesday Night Drawing Weekly Sessions

Drawing sessions are now held every Tuesday evening, 6:30 to 9:30 in the Vital Spaces Annex Building located on the Santa Fe Midtown Campus, formerly known as the Santa Fe University of Art & Design.

Our models use a variety of poses, varying in length from two-minute warmups to a final 40-minute pose over a three-hour period.

This weekly Santa Fe drawing group was started in 1969 by artist Eli Levin. Both amateur and professional artists have participated throughout the years. All skill levels are welcome from beginner to accomplished. The group is not a drawing class. It’s a shared figure-drawing opportunity.

Drawing sessions are rarely cancelled, but in the event that a session has to be cancelled a notice will be published here and on our Meetup site that is listed in the footer below.

The drawing fee is $10 per person, payable with cash or PayPal at the door.

No photography allowed.

Seating positions are available on a first-come basis.

Chairs are provided. Our new venue does not have room to store the portable easels and TV trays that we used to make available. Some artists use an extra chair as an easel. If you have your own easel or TV tray, bring it.

Bring your own art supplies (paper, pads, drawing materials).

Dry media, no toxic materials or sprays. Watercolor is OK. Bring a drop cloths if necessary to keep your area clean.

Snacks are available (cookies, chips, etc.) if artists voluntarily bring snacks to share.

Bring your own beverages.

Background music: we have access to Spotify and the Apple Music Library to provide a broad selection of background music.

Conversation happens. It’s not just tolerated but encouraged. If you need total silence to draw, you might not draw as well as usual here.

Our Meetup Site

To reserve a spot at Tuesday Night Drawing, go to our meetup site and RSVP “Going.”

Artists, it seems, are not very good at this, so the number of people you’ll see on the meetup site that are “attending” is usually not very accurate. Some artists RSVP and don’t show up, some don’t RSVP and do show up. Some don’t even know the meetup site exists. The RSVP accuracy (or inaccuracy) on the Meetup website has not been an issue yet (our usual attendance averages between 12 and 20). If it does become a problem in the future, we’ll ask artists to RSVP and set an attendance limit.
